Vicki Lawrence’s Tour Promises Laughs And Surprises For Fans of Mama
Mama's Family fans, you're going to love this new! Early next year, 'Mama' is going out on tour with Vicki Lawrence, the woman who created her.
Mama's Family made its debut back in 1983. It was a wildly successful spin-off inspired by characters from The Carol Burnett Show.

There was a long-running sketch comedy series on The Carol Burnett Show called "The Family." That's where Mama and her family tree were born. Vicki Lawrence, who was youngest member of the cast, just morphed into someone entirely different when she put on Mama's wig.
Vicki Lawrence created the character of Thelma Harper (a.k.a. Mama) and the subsequent sitcom revolved around Mama's Family- Mama, her sister Fran (Rue McClanahan), daughters Ellen (Betty Whites) and Eunice (Carol Burnett), and her son Vinton, his new girlfriend Naomi, and more.
The show, which was set in Raytown, Missouri, lasted six seasons and 130 episodes. Today, people still love them some Mama and Vicki Lawrence is taking their show on the road next year. So far, there are tour stops scheduled for Palm Springs, California and one within driving distance of the Tristate.
The Paramount Theatre in Anderson, Indiana will play host to Vicki Lawrence & Mama: A Two-Woman Show. It's set for Friday, January 16th. According to the Paramount's Facebook post about the show, the audience can "expect the unexpected, with new material with a modern twist."
Tickets for the show are already on sale and are available at Ticketmaster.com. Prices start at $48.70.
