Owensboro’s Viral Dog Filbert Is the Internet’s Newest Star
The Internet Is Barking About The Latest Viral Video!
You may have already seen it, since it’s all over the internet. Owensboro’s own Max Miller was working from home and trying out a new noise-cancelling earpiece for work calls. Smart move! If you work from home, you know the risk. Meetings and pets don’t always mix.
So Max decided to test it properly. He asked his dog, Filbert, to bark “soon.”
Filbert heard “soon” and decided that meant right this second. The bark came immediately, and it was LOUD. Not a polite little “woof” either. That's a dog who's been waiting his whole life for this moment and was not about to wait for a countdown!
Then Max, totally calm, asked if the earpiece picked it up and whether we could “hear it.”
Max, buddy, we could hear it. We could ALL hear it!
I watched it three times, because I have been there.

Back in the early days of the pandemic, when we were all doing our radio shows from home, I had a very spoiled, very needy pooch named Lucy. The second my mic switched on, she let her presence be known. Every. Single. Time. It was like she had a sensor. I could be mid-sentence, trying to sound smooth and professional, and Lucy would chime in with her two cents.
Was it a little embarrassing? Sure. But it also made for some of the most spontaneous radio I’ve ever done, and I wouldn’t trade the howl-arious moments for anything!
Lucy passed away a few years ago, and I’d give anything to hear that obnoxious bark interrupt me one more time. So when I see Filbert hitting his cue like a seasoned pro, I get it. I really do!
Now back to Filbert! The video has racked up MILLIONS of views on TikTok in less than 24 hours. Close to 5 million as of this publication! He went from good boy to bone-afide star before most of us finished our first cup of coffee.
And the comments?! Doggone funny. The internet is clearly team Filbert, and so am I. Here are a few of my favorites:
“Didn’t hear a thing, you’re good to go.”
“And the little smile he (Max) gives, thinking it’s gonna work.”
“Actually the loudest barks ever heard. Is the mic in his throat?”
“I actually haven’t laughed this hard in a while.”
“The bark heard around the world.”
Some pretty big names are chiming in as well, and I think that’s part of why it’s gone so viral!
You might know Max and his wife, Diana, since they’re a pup-ular young couple around town. They also just got married, so congratulations to them! Nothing says “welcome to married life” like your dog stealing the spotlight.
Every work-from-home person with a dog knows this feeling. Mine was Lucy, who I’ll never fur-get, and I miss that obnoxious bark every day. Filbert is carrying the torch with what is paw-sibly the best video of the year!
