The WBKR Yard Parties are back for another season, and we’re kicking things off with a lunch that’s serving up burgers to support an incredible local organization. For more than a decade, WBKR Yard Parties have helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for nonprofits across the tristate while shining a spotlight on causes that matter so much in the community. This year’s first Yard Party, sponsored by Rhoads & Rhoads, will benefit GRADSA, the Green River Area Down Syndrome Association, and you’re invited to grab a meal and help make a difference. Let's have some fun!

WBKR Yard Party Benefiting GRADSA

The first WBKR Yard Party of the season is set for Friday, May 15, 2026, starting at 11 AM in the WBKR parking lot. Supporters can enjoy a $7 burger plate lunch that includes a burger, chips, a drink, and dessert.

Hot dog meal options will be available.

Pickup will be available, and businesses ordering five or more meals can request delivery, making it an easy lunch option for offices across the area.

Preorders are highly encouraged so organizers can be ready for the lunchtime crowd.

ALSO.......We'll have five four-packs of tickets up for grabs for George Thorogood & the Destroyers, along with the Marshall Tucker Band, at the Beaver Dam Amphitheater next Saturday night!

Supporting Families Across the Region

All proceeds from the Yard Party will benefit GRADSA and its weekly programming for individuals with Down syndrome.

GRADSA is a 501(c)(3) organization led by a board of parent and professional volunteers who are passionate about improving the quality of life for individuals with Down syndrome. The organization serves nearly 300 families, educators, and professionals throughout Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Ohio, Union, Hopkins, Breckinridge, Muhlenberg, and Webster counties.

GRADSA is also affiliated with both the National Down Syndrome Society and the National Down Syndrome Congress.

A Community Effort

This year’s Yard Party is made possible by sponsor Rhoads & Rhoads, along with community partners like AMVETS Post 75, which GRADSA thanked for its continued support and collaboration.

One of the things that has made the WBKR Yard Parties special over the years is the way local businesses, organizations, volunteers, and listeners all come together for one common goal: helping neighbors right here at home.

More Exciting Events Ahead for GRADSA

The fun doesn’t stop with the Yard Party.

GRADSA is already planning its upcoming Halloween Buddy Walk scheduled for Saturday, October 31, 2026. The family-friendly event will include a 5K beginning at 9 AM, followed by the Buddy Walk at 10 AM. Costumes are encouraged as the community comes together to celebrate individuals with Down syndrome while raising awareness throughout the region.

Additional details about the Buddy Walk are expected to be announced soon!

How to Help

Come hungry, bring your coworkers, and support a great local cause. Whether you stop by the WBKR parking lot for lunch or place a delivery order for your office, every meal you purchase helps support GRADSA and the families it serves throughout western Kentucky.

The WBKR Yard Party season is officially underway, and we couldn’t be more excited to celebrate another year of giving back to local organizations doing incredible work across the tristate!
