If you’re looking for a fun, free way to spend Tuesday evenings with the family this summer, then head to the Evansville riverfront. Each week, the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library (EVPL) will be bringing stories, music, activities, and community fun to the riverfront with the return of Riverfront Reads!

What is Riverfront Reads?

The first of the eight-week summer series is May 12, from 6-7 p.m. at The Pagoda, and it sounds like the perfect excuse to head downtown and enjoy a beautiful evening along the Ohio River.

Special Guests Featured at the Kickoff Event

Each Tuesday will feature a different lineup of community partners, interactive activities, and family-friendly entertainment designed to keep kids engaged while encouraging a love of reading and learning. The May 12th event will include special guests from Wesselman Woods and Mesker Park Zoo, who will share information about their summer programs and offer hands-on activities for families.

Food Trucks and Summer Fun Along the Riverfront

And because no summer event is complete without great food, attendees can also grab dinner, snacks, or sweet treats from local food trucks during the event. This week’s featured vendors include La Plaza Food Truck and Snax Attack.

Riverfront Reads is completely free to attend, making it an easy and affordable way for families to enjoy summer evenings together while supporting literacy and local organizations. Whether your kids love books, animals, music, or just running around outside with friends, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

Organizers do note that events will be canceled in the event of inclement weather, so you may want to keep an eye on the forecast before heading out.
