EVPL Launches First Spooky Art Exhibit This Fall

Everyone's got that one thing. Maybe it's the creak of a floorboard in an empty house. Maybe it's a clown you saw once at a birthday party and never quite recovered from. Maybe it's something you can't even name – just a feeling that shows up in your chest right before you fall asleep. Whatever it is, the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library wants you to turn it into art.

"What Scares You" Is Coming to the EVPL

We’re talking about the EVPL's very first spooky art exhibit – What Scares You? Fear is one of the most universal — and most creative — human experiences, and this fall, EVPL Central is giving local artists a chance to put their nightmares on display for the whole community to admire (and shudder at).

Turn Your Fears Into Art

Artists of all ages can register to submit work now through Monday, September 14. Grab your paintbrush, your camera, your sculpting clay, whatever your medium of choice — and then “tell” us what scares you. A spooky story you can't shake, a haunted house encounter that still gives you chills, a psychological thrill you can't quite escape. It's all fair game.

When and Where to See the Spooky Exhibit

Once the entries are in, the completed exhibit will be open for viewing October 1–30, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at EVPL Central.  And don't skip the grand finale: a closing reception on Friday, October 30, from 4:30–6 p.m. Costumes are encouraged (so start planning now), and awards will be presented to standout artists.
