Henderson Aviation Day Features Medical Helicopter

More often than not, the helicopters we see overhead are medical helicopters, and seeing them from the ground is probably the closest you’ve ever been to one. If you’ve ever wanted to get an up-close and personal look at a medical helicopter, you’re gonna have the chance to do that later this month.

Henderson Aviation Day is on Saturday, October 17^th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Henderson City-County Airport, located at 2154 Highway 136 West. Admission and parking are both free, so it's an easy add to your weekend plans.

Meet the Air Evac Lifeteam Crew

The star of the show will be the crew of the Air Evac Lifeteam 46, who are flying in from Evansville with their helicopter. Kids and grown-ups alike can check it out. You'll also find several vintage airplanes on display, and the owners will be right there to chat about them, so bring your questions.

Scenic Flights Over Henderson

If you’re feeling adventurous, Don Davis Aviation, the airport's fixed-base operator, is offering scenic flights over Henderson. Tickets for those rides will be sold on site during the event.

Between flights and aircraft, you can wander through the exhibitor area, which will include Evansville Regional Airport, Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport, Civil Air Patrol – Owensboro Squadron, and the Henderson County Public Library. Food trucks will also be on hand.

Good to know: The event goes on rain or shine and will only be called off for severe weather. Any change will be posted on the airport's Facebook page by 8 a.m. Pets aren't allowed, but service animals are welcome.
