The year or so has been a great one for country fans in the Evansville area. Over that time, we've seen Jason Aldean, Old Dominion, Cody Johnson, Thomas Rhett, and more include Evansville on their tour schedules. Plus, we still have Kane Brown, Walker Hayes, Kenny Chesney, and Luke Bryan to look forward to in 2023. We can now tell you another rising country music star is adding us as a stop on his nationwide tour.

Jelly Roll Welcomed by Country Music

The Nashville-born artist started his career in the world of hip-hop before crossing over to the world of rock with his song, "Dead Man Walking" which had a two-week run at number one on the rock charts.

Having established himself as a multi-talented artist, he turned his attention to the world of country music, which makes sense since his hometown is the center of the country music world. Despite not having the look that you think of when you think of a country music singer, he proved that it doesn't matter how you look, but what you say in your songs that makes you a great country artist. He's been very open about the mistakes he's made in his life that found him spending time in jail on a number of occasions.

Country fans clearly appreciated his honesty and openness as his first country radio single, the soulfoul "Son of a Sinner" made its way to number one on Billboard's Country Airplay Chart.

He followed the success of that single with his current song, "Need a Favor" which appears to be well on its way to becoming his next massive hit.

It seems that not only have country music fans welcomed him into the family, but other country artists have as well. He's found himself on the Grand Ole Opry stage on a number of occasions over the past year. Once alongside Brantley Gilbert and again with Craig Morgan for an emotional performance of Craig's first-ever top 10 hit, "Almost Home."
