The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 2 Snow & Ice Team has been monitoring snow showers on the back side of a weather system that has brought mostly rain to the 11-county region during the day.

Temperatures are expected to hover near the freezing mark. At this time, our main concern is the potential for freezing of bridges and overpasses as the temperature drops below freezing this evening. Snow showers could be intense enough at some locations to overcome pavement temperatures that were warmed by sunshine over the last few days.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet District 2 crews will have personnel remain on duty into the night with trucks prepared to roll if slick spots should develop. Each crew will also have personnel come in at 5 a.m., CST, to be prepared to respond to potential slick spots on the morning commute.

Motorists are advised to pay attention to localized weather conditions.   Monitor area news media outlets for the latest weather updates as this system moves through. Slow down and use appropropriate caution in areas where snow starts to accumulate.
