Long-Term Detour to Be Set Up at U.S. 60 Wreck Site

A wreck involving a semi early Thursday afternoon resulted in the destruction of utility poles, the traffic signal, and the signal controller at the US 60/US 231 intersection.

Consequently, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet will establish a long-term detour for  this site.

The Cabinet said in a press release Thursday afternoon that US 60 traffic will "continue to be detoured along KY 2830 (old 60) through Maceo to reconnect with new 60 at the KY 144 interchange."

This will allow the KYTC and contractors to expedite the replacement of the downed traffic signals and the utility poles that supply power to them.

The Cabinet warns that this detour could be in place for as long as a month or more.

If you are regular traveler through the 60/231 intersection, give yourself enough time to adjust to the new detour.
