Fall is approaching and that means that winter is approaching too, so the days will be a bit shorter. It's possible to trick your brain into thinking time is passing by more slowly.  Some of us like the fact that our days go by quickly, we like a quick work day.  If you keep feeding your brain new information, studies show that the day seems longer.  Some simple ways are by teaching yourself new things like visiting new places  or meeting new people also trying new activities  and of course just being spontaneous, like the people jumping in that lake in the picture.  So if you like to get the most out of your day, try some of these tips.

1.  Keep learning new things.

Your brain perceives time according to how much information it has to process.  If the brain is working hard, time passes more slowly.  But time really flies when you're on autopilot.

I personally think that if my brain is working harder on something that time passes quickly and when its on autopilot, I'm bored and time goes mighty slow.

2.  Visit new places

When you go to a place you've never been, EVERYTHING is a new experience.  All the sights, sounds, and smells have to be organized by the brain.  You know that feeling of time standing still?  That's what's going on.

I don't know if this is a regional thing or what.  Maybe us Ohioan's days go by quicker when we are having fun.  If I'm visiting a new place, then I'm usually having fun.  You know that saying, time flies when you're having fun?  That's what's going on.  Maybe it's just me.

3.  Try new activities

It's pretty easy to put your brain on the brink of overload.

4.  Meet new people

Meeting someone new is also a great brain workout.  You have to learn to read new body language, understand their ways of talking, and respond to their expectations.  If there are social pressures, that's a whole other set of challenges.

Some of us can understand why this could make the day seem longer.  Some of us aren't people person's or people people if you will. So if you meet someone new, have a conversation and later fall out of interest with what they are talking about, then, indeed! This could make the day seem longer.

5.  Be spontaneous

Make an effort to surprise your brain, with things you haven't prepared for.  It forces your brain to react and adapt, and that should help time move more slowly for you.

This takes effort for some people that may not be motivated.  But a good way to get the most out of your day is to be spontaneous.  But I feel that being spontaneous would be sort of a "carpe diem" type of thing, rather than making it feel longer.  Maybe this would make your day feel more event filled.

The final tip is one I've made up myself.  This one comes from my spontaneous brain.  Here we go with number 6 -  Study Media, get a job at a radio station and wake up at 4 a.m. every day.  Your day will never end.
