Malaysia Flight 370 Update – May Have Ended In An Indian Ocean Impact

U.S. officials have an "indication" the missing Malaysia Airlines jetliner may have crashed in the Indian Ocean and is moving the USS Kidd to the area to begin searching.

Reports are saying that it will take another full day to move the ships to the location to begin searching.  The search area had widened to 27,000 nautical miles.  News broke this morning with the search reaching into south eastern parts of Pakistan past India, into China and in past the borders of Australia as well as deep into the Indian Ocean.

A senior official said "We have an indication the plane went down in the Indian Ocean.

The official went on to say that the aircraft showed signs of flying four to five hours after it lost contact and after that time had passed, they believe now it is in the ocean.

As of yesterday, multiple news agencies reported that the plane had turned around and headed south west.  The search in the Indian Ocean west of Malaysia has been going for several days and will take 24 hours to get to it's next location.  China released photo's of a possible piece of debris found via satellite images.  Upon arriving at the location, there was nothing.

A great question was asked yesterday.  How much fuel was in the plane and how far could it travel on this tank.  A boeing 777 can hold just under fifty thousand gallons of jet fuel and can travel up to six thousand miles before the tanks go from F to E.  boeing.com
