I don't know whether this is just insanely clever marketing or if it's just insane.  But there's a haunted attraction in San Diego, California that many believe is the most extreme haunted house in the nation.  It's so extreme that the average tour lasts from 4 to 8 hours.   And it looks like every single minute is absolutely terrifying.  Watch these videos and decide.  Would you do this?

Here's the McKamey Manor preview trailer from last year.  I will go ahead and warn you.  If you are easily disturbed, do NOT watch this.  Seriously.  Don't.

Now, check this out.  This is McKamey Manor's extended preview of their 2014 attraction.  You're gonna have to have some time on your hands to watch this.  It runs nearly an hour.  But, I can tell you this.  Apparently, a former U.S. Marine and a self-proclaimed adrenaline junkie recently attempted McKamey Manor and neither was able to finish the tour.  In fact, their tour was halted due to medical reasons.  Here's their harrowing account of what happened.

And, again, I have to repeat . . . I'm not sure how much of this is real.  Did these guys really get pushed to their breaking points in McKamey Manor?  Or is this just 55 minutes of incredibly brilliant marketing and brand messaging?  Either way, I'm intrigued.  And I have to be honest, part of me is, pardon the verb, dying to go.  In fact, I am trying to convince Brett that we should go to San Diego and take one for the team.

According to owner and operator Russ McKamey, what happens inside this haunt is 100% authentic and the waiting list to get in is thousands and thousands of souls long.  But getting in isn't easy.  You must be 21 to enter.  You must have reservations (though at this point the waiting list is so long there's a bit of a lottery to decide who is fortunate, or unfortunate, enough to be invited).  Participants must be in superb physical health.  And you must sign release waivers before entering McKamey Manor.

So, what do you think?  Would YOU do this?  A better question, I suppose, is "Are YOU crazy enough to do this?"  If you are interested, here's how you can make reservations.

I'm not gonna lie,  McKamey Manor looks harrowing.  It looks horrifying.  And it looks like human torture.  That's why I'm prone to think that these videos are just a clever marketing scheme.  It reminds me a bit of the way that The Blair Witch Project was marketed.  Remember that?  We were led to believe, through genius, viral marketing, that three filmmakers actually disappeared in the woods while looking for the elusive Blair Witch.  I think that's what Russ McKamey is up to.  I think he has developed a brilliant marketing strategy for his haunt and it's working.  I mean, look.  Here I am, in Owensboro, Kentucky, writing a blog about a haunted house in San Diego, California.

But, I will admit, there's a small part of me that's slightly terrified.  There's a little voice in my head saying, "Chad, shut up!  What if it IS real and you get invited in because you're being a skeptic as usual?  Then what are you gonna do?"

My answer . . . I don't know.  I may freak out.  I may fill my pants.  But I think I want in.
