I think the last time I was vaccinated against anything, besides my flu shots, was in the fifth or sixth grade, well over 30 years ago. The recent string of measles cases in the US has been reported in 20 states, including in the Tri-State.

The biggest outbreaks are currently in California, Washington, New York, New York City, and Michigan. This is the most cases reported since a slightly larger number was diagnosed in 2014. It brings into question those who haven't been vaccinated, including myself, in years.

A simple blood test can determine whether or not you have received two doses. In 1989, the CDC changed its recommendation from one dose to getting an additional MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine. According to the CDC, the majority of people infected with measles were not vaccinated.

The current outbreaks are linked to those who have traveled abroad to countries such as Israel, the Philippines, and Ukraine.

So, if you were born between 1957 and 1989, you may want to recheck your MMR doses.
