MotoGP Will Retire Nicky Hayden’s #69
It is confirmed. I've been wondering if or when this was going to happen, and MotoGP has announced that Nicky Hayden's number will be retired.
Exhaust reports that there will be a tribute to Nicky at the Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas in Austin, Texas later this year.
At that time, Nicky's #69 will be retired.
It was in May of 2017 when Nicky was involved in a bicycling accident that took his life.
One month later, the American Motorcyclist's Association renamed its Horizon Award the Nicky Hayden AMA Horizon Award.
He was inducted into the AMA Hall of Fame in 2018.
It's a tribute to the kind of person Nicky was--not just a great racer--that all of these honors continue to pour in.
We have always been and will continue to be as proud as we possibly can be of Nicky Hayden and his legacy.
