Nashville Colder Than Alaska? Yep, and a Record Was Broken

When we have arctic blasts around here, we always wonder if it's actually warmer in Alaska than it is here.

It's happened on more than one occasion.

But it doesn't happen very often at all once you cross the Tennessee border, and particularly when you get to Nashville.

Music City always seems to be about five or six degrees warmer than Owensboro.

And that may have been the case this morning. However, something ELSE was also the case.

This morning--Wednesday, November 13th, 2019--a 108-year-old record was broken, The Tennessean tells us.

Just before 6AM, Nashville was in the deep freeze at 17 degrees.

Within the hour, the temperature had climbed to 18 degrees, but that was still ONE DEGREE cooler than the 19 degrees recorded, at the same time, in Point Barrow, Alaska--the northernmost point in the state and, therefore, I guess, the country.

It's the Arctic Circle, for crying out loud.

This morning, Nashville was colder than part of the ARCTIC CIRCLE.

Of course, when you think about it, the North Pole is in the Arctic Circle, and Santa Claus lives at the North Pole.

And a Country Christmas at Gaylord Opryland has kicked off for the 2019 holiday season.

That means Santa Claus will be in Music City. You see where I'm going?
