One Night Train Experience You Won’t Want to Miss in Illinois This Labor Day Weekend
You don't need to be a kid to agree that trains are cool, and riding on one is even cooler.
The only train I have ever ridden is the Metra (I think it's Metra) train from Harvard to Chicago, but I have always thought it would be cool to take a long trip via train. I may not be checking that train trip off my bucket list anytime soon, but this cool event happening at the Illinois Railway Museum over Labor Day weekend might just be the next best thing.
Take A Trip Back in Time Over Labor Day Weekend
Another thing I haven't done yet is visiting the Illinois Railway Museum in Union, Illinois. The museum hosts several cool events throughout the year that all ages enjoy like its Day Out With Thomas, Pumpkin Train, and Happy Holiday Railway, but my family's schedule just hasn't allowed for us to visit any of them...yet.
This Labor Day weekend, Saturday, September 3, and Sunday, September 4, the Illinois Railway Museum will be operating special trains, at night, and this is something we all need to see!
The museum's goal is to provide a different, more immersive experience. Riding trains at night is very different than during the day and nighttime operations in previous years have provided a thrilling "time machine" experience to visitors.
Not only will you get to hop on board so cool trains at this event, but the whole museum will be lit up in all its vintage glory. Even if you've been to the Illinois Railway Museum before, I'm willing to be you've never experienced it quite like this!
