Now when you read the headline, your probably thought... Really?  Is this worthy of internet publication?  I thought the same thing and I thought it was appropriate because it was in the same state where I grew up.

Ohio isn't too far from us and I came across this story and thought it was sweet, gracious and nice of a 19 year old to do such a thing for his grandmother and the following paragraphs will tell you everything you need to know about the story.

Prom season is among us and as of late we have seen the local high schools dressing up and getting ready for the big dance.  A 19-year-old in Ohio just took his 89-year-old GREAT GRANDMA to the senior prom, because she didn't get to go when she was younger.

Austin Dennison is a handsome 19-year-old senior at Parkway High School in Rockford, Ohio.  He's an Eagle Scout, a volunteer firefighter, played football, baseball, and basketball and even played in the school band (over achiever at this point but keep reading)

He also just had his senior prom. It looks like he could have taken any date he wanted.  But instead of asking some girl from school.  He decided to take his 89-year-old GREAT-GRANDMOTHER.

Brett's Note -- I've been to high school and looking back, I would have done the same thing.

Her name is Delores Dennison, and she grew up in West Virginia.  She never graduated high school because times were tough.  So she never went to the prom.

But Austin wanted to help her experience it.  He says, quote, "I respect my elders greatly.  They have a great influence on my life.  To be able to sit down and talk to them and learn from them and their experiences is a great thing.

So he took her to dinner at Bob Evans, and they headed to the prom for photos and dancing.  They got a standing ovation, and the DJ even played the FRANK SINATRA song "Dolores"  . . . which Delores's husband sang to her when he was alive.  Austin even got her home by 9:00 P.M. . . . which is actually later than Delores usually stays up.

Good guy!  I look back and remember my prom night.  Let's step back in time and remember.

Marietta High School, Marietta Ohio.  I think it was Alice in wonderland themed (train wreck)  MHS spent the majority of the "prom fund" on projectors that featured Alice in wonderland on basically.... table cloths against the walls of the gymnasium that wasn't air conditioned.

$60 for 2 tickets to this "prom" and after an hour into the dance that lasted 4 hours, I found myself driving down the hill of the high school in the Caddy with my date, LEAVING to "get gone".  No gracias and happy Cinco de Mayo mi amigos!

I would have taken my Grandmother to the prom any year!!!  Why didn't I think of this!?
