O’Bryan’s Bar & Grill Wins Burger of the Year for Owensboro’s Burger Week
Owensboro's very first Burger Week is in the books. There's absolutely no doubt about the fact that it was a huge success with 24 restaurants participating and crowds flocking to each to sample the specialty burger each cooked up for the event.
Each restaurant was vying for the title Burger of the Year. That award comes with a traveling trophy the restaurant will get to keep until Burger Week 2022.
After over 10,000 burgers were served all over town, a winner has been chosen by the esteemed panel of judges. And, this morning, we visited O'Bryan's Bar & Grill to award them the grand prize!
Chad had the chance to make the presentation and talk with Eric Ashworth, owner of O'Bryan's. It has been such a tough year for the restaurant, and it's safe to say that Eric didn't see this coming. He was choked up when the announcement was made just minutes ago. He didn't think he had a chance at winning, and joined the contest in hopes that the publicity would drum up some extra business. Indeed it did, as O'Bryan's sold over 300 of the #owensboroburgerweek burger!
The winning Double Bacon Mozzarella Burger has been on the menu for a few years now, and Eric hopes that the win will encourage others to take the short drive to West Louisville. Barb here, and I ate the burger on Friday and I'll tell you that it was worth the drive! So, good. Luckily, you can still try it too.
Congrats to Eric and the entire team at O'Bryan's Bar & Grill! And, to all participating restaurants. A huge shout-out to Beef 'O' Brady's in Owensboro
as the top seller for #owensboroburgerweek at 1377. Thank you to the City of Owensboro for putting together this fun initiative.
