Owensboro Fireworks Postponed Due to Wet Weather
Sometimes you just can't plan outdoor activities and the July 4th weekend has been one of those.
Owensboro Officials announced early this morning that due to the heavy rain early and an almost 80% chance of thunderstorms and more rain thru the day, the "Celebration of the American Spirit" has been canceled for the evening. The fireworks display will take place on Friday, July 8, at 9:15 p.m. in conjuction with Friday After Five. For information please call 687-8700.
Storms in the area Sunday forced the rescheduling of the Daviess County Family Freedom Fireworks event at Panther Creek Park. That event is scheduled for Labor Day Weekend.
Several things come into play with fireworks, wind must be below 15 mph and lightning can't be present. In both cases on Sunday and Monday you have the potential for high wind and lightning.
Again the Owensboro Fireworks on the river are rescheduled for this Friday July 8, at 9:15 in conjunction with Friday After 5. The Panther Creek Parks Fireworks event is more than likely going to be Labor Day Weekend.
I have posted a few fireworks pictures here so you dont feel totally left out.
Have a safe and happy Fourth of July.
