Owensboro Hits The Jackpot

At a 10am news conference this morning Owensboro Daviess County Airport officials and Allegiant Airlines announced the following:

ALLEGIANT ANNOUNCES NONSTOP, LOW-COST TRAVEL SERVICE BETWEEN OWENSBORO AND LAS VEGAS WITH INTRODUCTORY $89.99* FARES

Allegiant (NASDAQ: ALGT) announces new, nonstop jet service between Owensboro, Ky., and Las Vegas will begin Oct. 14. The company, known for its exceptional travel deals, will introduce the new service to Owensboro residents with fares as low as $89.99* one way

“We are extremely pleased to expand the Allegiant brand of low-fare, nonstop, jet service in Owensboro,” Andrew C. Levy, Allegiant Travel Company President, said. “We are confident the Owensboro community will appreciate flying nonstop to Las Vegas and take advantage of the great deals we offer on hotels, car rentals and show tickets.”

“Tri-State residents are elated over Allegiant’s announcement of non-stop flights from Owensboro to Las Vegas,” Bob Whitmer, Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport director said. “This additional air service announcement represents Allegiant’s confidence in the Western Kentucky, Southern Indiana market—a confidence that stems from the community’s overwhelming response to Allegiant’s Orlando flights over the last 2 ½ years. Because of Allegiant, Owensboro can now boast of nonstop flights to the top two vacation destinations in the United States. I expect the number of passengers passing through the Owensboro-Daviess County Airport to double over the next year which reinforces the Airport Board’s efforts to expand the terminal.”

The new flights will operate twice weekly betweenOwensboro-Daviess Regional Airport (OWB) and McCarran International Airport (LAS), with service Monday and Friday. Flights will depart Owensboro at 12:20 p.m. arriving in Las Vegas at 2:10 p.m. Flights leaving Las Vegas will depart at 6:10 a.m. arriving in Owensboro at 11:35 a.m. (all flight times are local). The carrier will utilize a full-size, 150-seat MD-80 jet aircraft on the route.

The event was attended by Senator Wendell Ford, Daviess Co. Judge Executive Al Mattingly, Owensboro Mayor Ron Payne, State Representative Tommy Thompson and Deputy Commissioner of the Ky. Avation Dept. Henry Lackey.
