
Owensboro Top 10 – 2014 Is Looking Bright
Rosemary Condor, the Chairwoman of We Are Downtown says - "It's going to be a tremendous year for downtown". Which is a fabulous thing to hear for all of the residents of Owensboro.
Keith Lawrence wrote the good news article in Sunday's Messenger Inquirer about the top 10 things Owensboro will be expecting for the 2014 year.
1- The big time traffic nightmare on Second Street should be wrapped up. Construction should be done in 2014
2- Scheduled for January, the $20 million Hampton Inn & Suites as well as the $39.5 million Owensboro Convention Center
3- A partial opening of Court Place, the $3 million four-story condo and retail complex which is being built at St. Ann and Second streets. Partial opening in January, final completion in Feburary.
4- The Holiday Inn by the riverfront is scheduled to be completed in 2014
5- Late next year, Construction is said to begin on Waterford Place, a five story condo complex west of the Holiday Inn
6- Construction will begin at 101 Frederica, only if parking is resolved, on a 5 story office building with restaurants on the first floor.
7- Wells recently said that they are working with 2 companies to build two, one story office buildings near the convention center.
8- Also near the convention center, plans for the old Showroom Lounge platform will be turned into an overlook and performance area next summer
9- Mayor Ron Payne says a third hotel is expected for downtown.
10- Finally the riverwalk that runs along the northern edge of Smothers Park from the RiverPark Center to the convention center will be extended west to the waterford place condos.
What an amazing year coming up and we are all ready to see what it's all about.
