In my opinion, it's among the most distinct guitar sounds in the history of music. If I were to hear it in something I've never before heard, I'd immediately know it was Gregg Allman.

We'll have to now dig out all our old Allman Brothers music and soak it in just a little bit more intensely now that the rock legend has passed away at the age of 69.

Billboard reports that Allman died peacefully at his home in Savannah.

Something I didn't know and just learned while sifting through stories about Allman's passing was that he was diagnosed with hepatitis C in 1999.

He underwent a liver transplant 11 years later in 2010.

The Allman Brothers, man.

They created some legendary music.

And that sound just takes me back to my childhood. Very nostalgic.

Here are some of my favorites, including their biggest hit, "Ramblin' Man."
