The Better Business Bureau of Western Kentucky joined the morning show Thursday Morning to talk about Hot Topics for April.  During the interview Mr. Charles Mattingly explained in detail how some scam artists work.

The Hot Topics for April produce tips to people subject to being scammed by people or fake organizations that basically just want your money.  Included in the topics :

Prepaid Debit Card Scams:  This is generally a phone call asking for your debit card numbers.  Something a bank would never do.  Never give your card numbers to anyone over the phone whether it be debit card, credit card or drivers license number.

Sound alike names:  For example the American Cancer Society is a very real and legitimate Charity Organization.  However if a call comes through about the National Cancer Charity and Awareness Organization, its not real.  They may attempt to be clever and use acronyms like NCCAO or forward you to another fake sales rep.  Do not fall for this,  just hang up the phone, and by all means do not give card numbers over the phone.

All of the Hot Topics can be seen and read online by clicking here.  Check them out and don't be a victim to identity theft!
