Sochi Update – NBA NCAA NFL & More
Striking gold for the seventh time in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, the United States finally gains first place overall. Ted Lighty became the first American to win two Olympic gold medals in Alpine skiing after winning the Men's Giant Slalom. France took home silver and bronze. Ole Einar Bjoerndalen from Norway earned his record 13th Winter Olympic medal after taking gold in the first Mixed Relay Biathlon. Team USA's Lauryn Williams and Elana Meyers grabbed silver and Aja Evans and Jamie Greubel won bronze in Women's 2 Man Bobsled while Canada snatched gold. Vic Wild who was born in America won gold for Russia in the Men's Parallel Giant Slalom Snowboarding. Switzerland, Japan and Russia finished 1-2-3 in Women's Parallel Giant Slalom Snowboarding.

As mentioned yesterday, former Laker, Dwight Howard took his first trip back to L.A. after heading to Houston to play for the Rockets. As expected, Howard heeard a chorus of boos every time he touched the ball, and as expected, Houston easily defeated the hopeless Lakers 134-108. Howard finished with 20 points and 13 rebounds. The Lakers traded guard Steve Blake to the Warriors less than 90 minutes before tipoff. They are tied with the Sacramento Kings for last place in the Western Conference.

Top ranked Syracuse suffered their first loss on the season putting them now at 25-1. The main thing about the story is that Boston College are the ones who laid down the upset. Boston College went to battle with just six wins on the season and upended the Orange with a final score of 62-59. Boston College now goes to 7-19 on the season. That leaves Wichita State the only undefeated squad on the court after their win against Loyola of Illinois 88-74

Ray Rice from the Baltimore Raves allegedly struck his fiance with his hand knocking her unconscious during an incident early Saturday morning at a casino in Atlantic City. He and his fiance were both arrested for simple assault, according to Atlantic City Police. Casino surveillance video obtained by TMZ on Wednesday shows Rice dragging the woman out of an elevator at the Revel Casino and laying her on the ground. Rice is due back in court Tuesday morning.
