Stay Alert – Research Organizations Before Donating
Earlier in April on the show I had a chance to speak with Mr. Charles Mattingly from the Better Business Bureau. He spoke on some of the Hot Topics dealing with identity theft and "iffy" organizations with phony names to scam you out of your money.
Donations to families of the Oklahoma tornadoes are much appreciated but phony organizations are being anticipated. Basically whats being stressed here is that if you plan to donate anything, make sure the company you are using is a true company.
Charles gave us good examples of fake names that we assume are real and without thinking we send money and clothes and other forms of donations to them. In reality, the money goes to people who don't need it (scam artists).
If you plan on donating to the families who fell victim to the tornadoes in Oklahoma or to any other family in need, please research the organization before giving money or other donations.
