Three wheels, three cylinders, two seats and a lot of head turning.  Elio Motors have decided to but the former HUMMER plant and start building these puppies.  This past Sunday in the Messenger Inquirer they featured the new prototype for Elio Motors.

Elio says they have made a ground breaker.  It's not a "OR" car.  It's an "AND" car. Meaning that you can have an Escalade AND an Elio or a Range Rover AND an Elio.  Instead of a Focus OR an Elio or a Fiesta OR an Elio.  Because the best part about this car is the price on the sticker.  I know I keep saying car.  It's technically a motorcycle.  That's right 3 wheels or less and you aren't driving an automobile anymore.  It's a bike.   You get three wheels, two seats and three cylinders along with satellite navigation and lane detection for $6,800.  So you can have your big gas guzzler to get the family together on the weekends and have the Elio waiting at home for you.

$6,800 is extremely cheap.  Let's take a look at a brand new Toyota Prius and we see that it is much much more expensive than the Elio.  Not to mention that the engine in a Prius is a gas guzzler compared to the Elio.  Elio gets a fantastic 84 MPG's, burying the Prius and every other car in America.  Honestly if  you are going to beat that by very much I doubt the car is running.  It's very interesting.

Crash tests are impressive.  I remember saying on the Life in the O Morning Show on  Monday that it didn't look very safe but they have engineered this car to have a 5 star safety rating all the way around from front to back.  I thought no way.  But apparently it's accurate.
