The Nashville Zoo has been shut down just like all the rest of the world since March. They will reopen next week and families are super excited to get to go and visit.  There will be policies and procedures in place to keep everyone safe and happy.

The zoo will take every precaution necessary to make sure that your visit is as safe and enjoyable as possible.  As a parent want to plan a visit I had tons of questions about guidelines and they were all answered for me right here.

I was amazed to learn that the Nashville Zoo is home to over 2,700 animals and over 350 different species.

One of the newest members of the zoo is an Andean Bear that comes from Peru.  The Andean Bear exhibit opened three days before the zoo closed.  The Andean Bear is the only bear found in South African.  There are only 37 Andean Bears living in the U.S. and how awesome is it that two of them call the Nashville Zoo home.

Other new animals include; a giant anteater pup, two porcupines, two caracal kittens, and a binturong.

The zoo offers some awesome programming available to the public through an appointment.

  • Scout Workshops: If you know a boy or girl scout they will love this.  They will be able to acquire several badges through this program.
  • Night Owls:  This may be the coolest program they offer.  You can actually visit and stay the night in the Nashville Zoo and experience it all after dark.
  • Zoo Photography: You will have the opportunity to take private lessons with the Zoo Photographer for 2-4 hours.

The zoo will open to members starting Monday, June 15, through, Wednesday, June 17, and for the public Thursday, June 18.   If you would like to become a member of the zoo here's how.
