One of the first things many people think of when it comes to St. Louis, Missouri is beer. However, did you know there is one thing you are not allowed to do with this sudsy beverage in the big city? It's possible you were breaking the law and didn't even know it.

I have to thank Stupid Laws and Only In Your State for mentioning this one. They documented that is is forbidden, illegal and will get you thrown in jail if you do the following:

Sit on a street corner in St. Louis, Missouri and drink beer out of a bucket

I am shocked. My first thought was "surely no one would choose to drink beer out of a bucket", but then again this is St. Louis we're talking about. If it's crazy, it's happened there.

Sitting on a curb also doesn't sound like a good idea in St. Louis with the way people drive in the big city either. What are the odds someone would do both? Drink beer out of a bucket and sit on a curb? If there's a law against it in St. Louis, that means it's happened before.

This strange St. Louis beer law did remind me of the scene in Shawshank Redemption where Andy works out a deal with the crooked guard to get beer for his friends in exchange for tax help on an inheritance. If I recall, they were given beer bottles...in a bucket. Now, it all makes sense. You were right all along, St. Louis beer lawmakers.
