There’s a Fun Gingerbread House Decorating Contest in Kentucky with Cash Prizes
When I was a kid, I loved gingerbread houses. Oh, who I am kidding? I am well into adulthood and I still love them. I remember one Christmas specifically. I am not sure which year it was, but I remember my sisters and me getting gingerbread house kits around Christmas time. They were exceptionally fun to decorate and they were even more fun to eat.
Well, the Muhlenberg County Tourism Commission just announced its hosting the "Gumdrops on Rooftops" Gingerbread House Decorating Contest and Showcase. It's coming up on Friday, December 9th and Saturday, December 10th. But this contest isn't for amateurs like my sisters and me. No, the only age division kits are allowed for in this contest is the youngest category. Everyone else has to build their own gingerbread houses from scratch.
And the Muhlenberg County Extension Office, where the showcase is being held, is providing some handy dandy guidelines and rules for people wanting to construct and compete.
In addition to establishing rules for the contest, the commission has also shared some important tips. They've even provided a recipe for "Royal Icing", which sounds ridiculously tasty, by the way.
There are multiple age divisions and awards for the 2022 contest.
The individual divisions are as follows:
