Things Not To Believe In Presidental Race
Calvin Woodward wrote an article from the Associated Press and it was featured in the Messenger Inquirer Monday morning talking about the 5 things not to believe. As it has been said, it's not great politics for a politician to not tell the truth. However when they talk ambition on their own behalf, deception pretty much comes with the territory and no one seems to mind.
As the 2016 presidential campaign field begins to take shape, the list of 5 things not to believe comes to the surface.
THE SIT DOWN
Back in 2010, Mitt Romney had the clever way of seeing what he should be doing. He had his family gather around to cast their own ballots on whether or not he should run again for the Republican nomination. Vote was 10-2 and even Romney voted no. Clearly the voters count didn't really matter since he ran anyway. So what does this mean? Family Matters? Apparently not.
THE DODGE
Ted Cruz from Texas said that his focus was entirely on Texans and their well being, even though when this declaration was made he was in the big time presidential primary state of South Carolina. He made a pretty funny gesture to President Obama though when he tweeted a picture of GoogleMaps with directions to the border region in Texas. Hillary Clinton, remember the one that couldn't make up her mind about anything? " No Plans" "I'm Running" "Stay Tuned" "I'm Running... around the park" then saying that she would let us all know by the end of the year whether or not she was running. What are we supposed to think?
THE DOWNPLAY
New Jersey Republican Chris Christie said that the bridge scandal will be a footnote by 2016 and we hardly agree. Also Scott Walker from Wisconsin says the political activities in 2011 and 2012 were old news stories and case closed. The copy read that these figures in the world of politics can't just wish these things gone. They stick with us.
WHAT POLLS?
Polls are everywhere all the time and it is never just the poll on ELECTION DAY that matters, they all do. Senator Marco Rubio from Florida said that "I don't really pay attention to them." Apparently this is what political figures say when they are down and out.
VEEP CREEP
Well, Al Gore said that a vice presidency is a "political dead end" then guess what he did on the next campaign? SIGNED ON FOR IT. Nelson Rockefeller said he refused offers to be such "standby equipment," then became just that for Gerald Ford. Then George H.W. Bush said "I'm not leaving the door open" to becoming the running mate to his GOP rival, Ronald Regan... then he did it.
