To The Local Man Who Helped a Scared Toddler in the Chick-Fil-A Play Area
I'm generally a person who likes to spread the love and positive vibes. This is not to say that I am perfect, or that I will be shooting rays of sunshine out of my orifices all day long every day, but I do like to live my life in a generally positive manner. Just because I'm named Sunny, doesn't mean I'm always sunny in many senses of the word. Moving on, my kids and I were at a local Chick-Fil-A when I was having a little bit of a down day. Sometimes I get overwhelmed and wonder how good the people in this world really are after a rough day with people. A man that day reminded me that most of the time, people are generally good.
Moving on, my kids and I were at a local Chick-Fil-A when I was having a little bit of a down day. Sometimes I get overwhelmed and wonder how good the people in this world really are after a rough day with people. A man that day reminded me that most of the time, people are generally good.
In the play area, a daring two-year-old child decided to climb into the tubes of the play place and get all the way to the top of the slide before panicking and deciding not only could he not slide, but he could not move. As a parent, I have to say, I've been there. It ain't pretty. He immediately began to cry. Before anyone could decide what to do, a man who was watching his son play sprints into action, climbing up the tiny levels, navigating twists and turns meant for small children to retrieve the child quickly, and bring him back down to safety.
Right at that moment, my heart swelled. I know as a new parent, I was always afraid my child would get stuck in a play place, and I would panic and not know what to do. So, to me, this was an amazing act of kindness to witness. I just want to thank this man for two things:
1) Thank you for retrieving that poor scared baby from the play place. He wasn't in trouble, but he was afraid, and that's all it took for you to spring into action and help the little guy out. Thanks for being such a considerate man.
2) Thank you for renewing my faith in humanity for the day. It seems like such a small thing you did, but really it was a huge thing to me and probably a great help to the parents as well. When I was wary, it was refreshing and solidifying to know that there are still decent people out and about among us.
This inspired me to be more aware of my acts of kindness, and so I work to be more kind each day. If you're like I was that day, wondering about the world as we know it, don't fret. There are still some great people out there, doing simple kind gestures every day to make the lives of those around them a little sweeter. By showing kindness, you never know who you'll inspire to spread the love. I know I certainly was inspired.
