I'm not sure about you, but every time I change the batteries in something I just stare at the old ones wondering what in the heck I am supposed to do with them.  I don't know if they're supposed to go in the trash.  If they can't go in the trash, where am I supposed to put them?  Well, there's good news.  Tox Away Day is right around the corner and it's the prime opportunity to get rid of all those items you need to dump and don't know where to dump them.

Daviess County Fiscal Court is hosting Tox Away Day on Saturday, October 10th from 8am until Noon.  The event is absolutely FREE of charge to residents of Daviess County and will take place at the Daviess County Operations Center on Hwy 81.  The goal of the event is to give local residents the opportunity to dispose of houseold hazardous waste.  Among them items you can discard: batteries (YAY!), cleaning products, lawn chemicals, paint, aerosol cans, fluorescent light bulbs, etc.

Of course, a secondary goal of an event like Tox Away Day is to keep those items out of the Daviess County Landfill.  They can be incredibly harmful to the environment.

However, it's also important to make note of the following items.  These items CANNOT be discarded during Tox Away Day: appliances, ammunition, computers, medical waste, tires, solid waste (trash), air conditioners, refrigerators, acetylene cylinders, de-humidifiers, any cylinders other than listed, unmarked cylinders or cylinders with broken and inoperable valves, business waste and latex paint.
