US Figure Skating Championships Returning to Nashville in 2022

All this cold weather has got me thinking about winter and the Winter Olympics. Here's some cool news. Nashville will be hosting the 2022 US Figure Skating Championships at Bridgestone Arena. In fact, the first sporting event hosted at the then-new arena 25 years ago was the very same event. 

As Olympic fans know, the US Championship serves as the final qualifying event before the nomination of the US Olympic Figure Skating Team that will compete in the Winter Olympics which will be held in Beijing, China in February 2022.

Back in 1997, Nashville Arena hosted the US Championships and Tara Lipinski became the youngest champion ever at age 14 beating out past champs Michelle Kwan and Nicole Bobek.

Here's something I didn't know, Olympic Gold Medalist Scott Hamilton now lives in Brentwood, a suburb of Nashville and he has played a big part in the growth of the skating community.

So mark your calendars for January 3-9, 2022.
