Don't blame USA Today. They just put a poll out there and got these results. What WE have to do is simply get more people to vote.

The USA Today asked readers who has the best burgoo in Kentucky.

If I'd seen it, I would have immediately thought our burgoo experts here in Owensboro would be at the top.

(Because I always wonder if folks NOT in Daviess County are really making burgoo correctly...you know, with mutton.)

But, hey, some people call it "burgoo" even if there ISN'T any mutton in it. In other parts of the country, it's called Brunswick Stew. And while it's a good stew, it is mutton-free.

And, from what USA Today is telling us, if it's meat, it can be in burgoo. I mean, I'm seeing pigeon, rabbit, and squirrel.

I've had rabbit. Love it! I've had squirrel. It was a long time ago, but I remember it being incredibly bony.

Never had pigeon.

I wonder if any of these meats wound up in the Firehouse Sandwich Shop's burgoo.

That's your champ right there. It's located in the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort. So, it looks like I'll have to swing through the state capitol at some point and give it a try.

Who am I kidding? I'll print this list and try out every burgoo on it, at some point.

I'm already very familiar with #2 and #3.
