Owensboro Public Schools and Daviess County Public Schools have announced that they will be closed Friday due to the water main break. In addition, the East Daviess County Water District has issued a boil water advisory and Whitesville Waterworks has now issued a boil water notice after this morning's water main break in Owensboro.

The water line break Thursday morning initially resulted in the closure of a portion of 4th Street. But as it became clearer that the break was more serious than first believed, schools began to dismiss at a rapid rate.

A boil water notice was issued for all OMU water customers in Daviess County, Kentucky.

You should bring the water to a rolling boil for at least three minutes before consuming it.

On its website, Owensboro Municipal Utilities has indicated that crews have isolated the break and have begun transitioning provision of water from the Cavin Treatment Plant on Highway 144.

A request has been made that we all conserve water as much as possible by avoiding unnecessary tasks that REQUIRE water.

The water main break is causing enough of a disruption at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital that it has decided to cancel elective endoscopies DUE to the break.
