Weather Service Issues Freeze Warning (And Watch) For Some Tri-State Counties
Turns out Old Man Winter isn't done with the Tri-State yet. With an overnight low expected around 34, outlying counties will see the thermometer dip down below freezing and that can kill crops and temperature sensitive plants.
The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued the Freeze Warning in effect from 3am to 8am Wednesday morning.
A Freeze Watch is also in effect for the same areas from Wednesday evening through Thursday morning.
The counties effected are:
Illinois - Jefferson, Wayne and Perry
Indiana - Wabash, Franklin, Hamilton, Gibson and Pike
Cities in the warned area include Mount Vernon, Fairfield, Albion, Mount Carmel, Pickneyville, West Frankfort, McCleansboro, Fort Branch and Petersburg.
Meteorologists expect the freezing temps should only be around for about two actual hours, still long enough to cause damage.
