Evansville's First Snow Of 2021: When Will We See Snow?

If you're wondering when we will start to see snowfall in the Evansville area this winter, you're in luck. We now know when we can expect to see the first snowflakes in the area.

I know that we are only in the early stages of fall, and the temperatures really haven't dropped too much yet, but so many people are looking forward to fall-like weather. Likewise, there are a lot of people who are already wanting to see some snow. Personally, am not a fan of the cold or everything that goes along with it, but my hatred isn't enough to keep the cold temps and snowflakes away.

Like it or not, winter is coming. If winter weather folklore is accurate, we could be in store for quite the season. According to a recent sighting of a Wolly Worm in Leslie Morgan's yard, we might have a pretty rough winter ahead. On top of that, many people in the Evansville area have begun to cut open persimmon seeds to find spoon shapes in the seed, which means that you should get a shovel ready because you are in for a pretty snowy winter. So the question here is not if, but when can we expect to see snow in the Evansville area?

First Snowfall of 2021 In The Evansville Area

The Old Farmer's Almanac doesn't share the same idea of what we can expect in the Evansville area as winter folklore does. According to the Old Farmer's Almanac,

Precipitation and snowfall will be below normal in most areas, with the snowiest periods in early and mid-December and from early to mid-March.

So now we have some conflicting reports. However, we DO know that we will have some snow heading our way. The Old Farmer's Almanac doesn't answer the question as to when exactly when we can expect snowfall, but Accuweather does.

According to Accuweather, it appears that we won't see any snowfall in November at all, unlike years past. The first time we could see snow in the Evansville area will be on December 5th. It will be more of a dusting with the predicted accumulation being .2 inches.

Will We Have A White Christmas?

Don't expect to have a whole lot of snow on the ground on Christmas in Evansville this year. However, that doesn't mean that we won't see some snow in the area. Accuweather predicts .3 inches on December 21st and on Christmas Day.
