Last night, my husband and I watched in anticipation as Grace VanderWaal was crowned the winner of America's Got Talent 2016 after her stellar performance of "Clay." She's totally adorable and an instant millionaire! Right? Wrong... If you read the very fine print at the very end of the show, the $1,000,000 is actually dolled out in an annuity over 40 years! Really?? Yep, FORTY YEARS!

Or she could take the cash payout, which is only a fraction of the actual million. So, according to Forbes, the winner gets $25,000 a year before taxes are taken out. So, Miss VanderWaal will be receiving her $15,000 until she's about 52.

Luckily, the preteen will have a nice Vegas gig to go with her million dollars. But, I'm sure that's probably not what the American public expects either. You'll do one night a month at Planet Hollywood and the rest of the time, you'll be in the kitchen washing dishes.

Poor kid - save your pennies and go to college. :o)
