You May Be Eligible to File Your Taxes for Free
We are a little over a month away from “Tax Day.” If you haven’t filed your taxes yet, your BBB® has the following information on how you might be able to do it for free.
According to the IRS, 70% of taxpayers qualify to file their taxes for free. That’s over 100 million people! So how can you file free? Through an IRS program called Free File.
If your adjusted gross income for 2015 was $62,000 or less, you will find one or more free software options through Free File at IRS.gov. Each company sets its own eligibility criteria, generally based on income, age, state residency, eligibility for the Earned Income Tax Credit and military status. Once at the company’s website, review their information to make sure it meets your needs.
