A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to close a section of KY 2121/Southtown Boulevard in Owensboro starting Monday, April 16, 2012, as part of ongoing reconstruction work.

KY 2121/Southtown Boulevard will be closed to all traffic between Martin Luther King, Jr., Loop and KY 2699/Goetz Drive to construct a reinforced concrete box culvert across Southtown Boulevard.

This extensive work will require KY 2121/Southtown Boulevard to remain closed at this site for approximately 45 days.

KYTC Engineers and the contractor have been coordinating with school officials to help minimize the impact of this closure on nearby schools (please see post on School bus reroutes).

Martin Luther King, Jr., Loop which has been closed will reopen to traffic before the start of this closure on Southtown Boulevard. The reconstruction of KY 2121/Southtown Boulevard has an expected completion date of June 1, 2013.
