During the exercise segment of Shaped by Faith I am going to give you a simple exercise that you can do just about anywhere, anytime. I will keep it simple, but yet challenging for every level of fitness from the beginner to the athlete.

I will explain every level of the exercise so that everyone can benefit from it. The best advice I can give you about what level of the exercise you should be doing is to listen to your body and to be Present. Meaning, stay FOCUSED on what you are doing.  The body responds so much better when we pay attention to it.

Before you do any exercise, you will want to warm up your body with some simple moves. Think about a dress rehearsal, go over the exercise in your warm up . Today’s exercise is a Squat. The Squat is an exercise that everyone should be doing to strengthen their lower body which includes the legs, glutes, hips and knees.

Your warm up before the squat could include 30 seconds of the following: squats, alternating knee lifts while reaching your arms overhead
and toes hip sky (bend over and reach for your toes or knees, hips and reach up over head).

Here is the Squat for every level of fitness, have FUN!
Do 16 repetitions and 1-3 sets.

Modified squat (hands on hips)
Chair squats (sit on the edge of a chair and stand up)
Squat and press (Press a weighted ball or weights over head)
Moving squats (Lateral Squats)
Squat and jump (Plyometric)
180° squat jumps (Challenging Plyometric)
