A contractor will have to STOP traffic for periods of up to 15 minutes on the US 60/Wendell Ford Expressway in OWENSBORO this afternoon for emergency roadway repairs.

These brief closures for both EASTBOUND AND WESTBOUND TRAFFIC will be on US 60 at the US 431 Overpass at mile point 14.398. This is in an existing work zone for deck work on the overpass.

Several roadway base failures along the open lanes at this site require immediate repair. The roadway will be closed for periods of 15 minutes through the afternoon, then reopened temporarily to allow traffic to pass. This repair process is likely to create a traffic backup at this work zone. The intermittent traffic stoppages will continue until emergency repairs are completed.

Motorists are advised to take an alternate route to avoid delays.

A lane restriction remains in place on US 60/The Wendell Ford Expressway to allow ongoing deck work on the Bittel Road Overpass at mile point 12.011 and on the US 431/Frederica Street Overpass at mile point 14.398.

Lane restrictions will be up for both eastbound and westbound traffic. Motorists should continue to be alert for slowing and merging traffic as they approach these work zones.

Intech Contracting, LLC, is the prime contractor on this $1,188,296 highway improvement project that includes deck work on various bridges in Daviess County. Work at this site should be completed around August 5th
