Are These the Ten Scariest Bridges in America?
Do you have anxiety when it comes to crossing bridges? If you do, these are the bridges to avoid at all costs. From the Mackinac Bridge to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, these are the top ten scariest bridges in America, in my opinion.
Living in Northern Michigan most of my life, you can't avoid the Mackinac Bridge. Even though I've driven over the bridge hundreds of times, it doesn't make it any less scary. If the wind is blowing, it's five long miles of sweaty hands glued to the steering wheel praying to get over it. If it's blowing bad enough, they've had to shut down the fourth-longest suspension bridge in the country, and at times even escort you across it. Yes, someone will drive your vehicle across 'Big Mac' for you. I still remember on a windy day back in 1989 a Yugo went over the bridge killing the driver. Nope. Not scary at all, unless you're an aquaphobic or gephyrophobiac.
Having a fear of going over bridges is a real phobia. I know many people who become crippled by the thought of it. I can be one of those people as I approach a bridge. I worry about the bridge collapsing, falling, or fear I'll drown if crossing over a body of water. Depending on the height and length of the bridge it can make my heart race and my palms sweaty. Do you have the same fears?
If you have a fear of driving over bridges, these are the ones to avoid.
