8-Year-Old Ellen Larkin Raises $500 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

How about this for an amazing, unexpected but heartwarming surprise?  Today, during the 1pm hour of the WBKR/Window World St. Jude Radiothon, we were visited by Ellen Larkin, an 8-year-old Calhoun Elementary School student.

Ellen told us that she saw a St. Jude commercial on the TV and noticed a child in a wheelchair.  At that moment, she told her family she wanted to raise money for patients at the hospital. So she did.

There was a carnival at Calhoun Harvest Days and she saved tooth fairy money, chore money and birthday.  The end result?  Ellen raised $500 and came into the Radiothon today to make her official presentation on the air.
