Angel Name’s Her Favorite Jobs (PHOTOS)
Angel here! I have been blessed in my life to have some of the most amazing jobs/careers. I was always told a person has at least five jobs before they retire and I have loved all mine!
The very first job I ever had was at the Owensboro Family YMCA. I started out in the Aquatics Department. I actually became a volunteer and then worked my way up to being employed. I was a swim instructor, lifeguard, courtesy counter attendant, zumba instructor, worked in membership, and a camp counselor and Y-Wee Care worker. I loved my time at the Y.
I also worked at Atlantis Swim Club in high school and college. I loved working outside! This job was awesome. We got to get a tan, see our friends, save lives, and work for Shirley and Allen. They were the best and were the reason I came back summer after summer!
I learned so much working for the Owensboro Parks & Recreation Department. I worked with the City for a really long time. I was Youth/Special Events Supervisor and the Director of the Owensboro Youth Council. My favorite part of this job was working with so many awesome people and hanging out with kids. I was also the director of the Summer Day Camp and I loved my staff and all the campers. The Owensboro Youth Council gave me the opportunity to do what I love most and that was serve our community. Youth from all over Owensboro-Daviess County came together to volunteer. It was a blast!
I have also worked for both the Owensboro and Daviess County Public School Systems. Both were amazing. I love the teachers and students. I still have contact with a lot of the students I worked with and am blessed with friendships that have lasted throughout the years.
And last but certainly not least WBKR. It has been non-stop fun and work since I walked through the side door of this building. I would have to honestly saw this job has been the most fun and hardest I have ever done. People think we just flip on the mics and talk. It is so much more. It's about community, people, caring, thinking out of the box, communication, and of course it's about having a good time! I have learned a lot about the person I am here. I love working with Chad, Barb, Brently, Spence, and the rest of the gang here. To be honest it feels like they are family.
