-  The Bend in the River Brass Band is directed by Tim Grouix, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday  April 10th, in the auditorium of Owensboro High School.  This performance will be a preview of the band before they hit the road to Cincinnati.

Fluegel Horn player Danny Humphreys says that "Though people are familiar with brass instruments in orchestras, hearing an all brass band might give them a new perspective of music."  Humphreys also stated "There are a lot of different forms and styles you can play with brass bands, you can make the music very sweet, you can make it heavy.  its a completely different sound."

The Bend in the River Brass Band is consisted of 30 pieces.  Eight types of horns and a small percussion section.  The band follows the tradition of British brass bands.

This year will mark the group's sixth run in the competition.  They will play several "more challengine" selections this weekend, including "Saint-Saens Variations" by Phillip Spark, which is the required piece set by the judges.

Go check them out on Wednesday April 10th at 7:30 in the Auditorium of Owensboro High School.  And wish them luck in Cincinnati!
