BPA Northern Zone World Series Hits Town

Play begins Thursday, (today July 26) but events began last night as almost 1,000 baseball players, their coaches and families, from 7 states arrived in Owensboro. They got here early to attend the "Opening Ceremonies".

I was honored to be the Master of Ceremonies for the event which took place in the Sportscenter. The teams marched in to loud rock music and even louder ROCK STAR introductions. Bud's Harley-Davidson and the Owensboro Biker News roared in with some tricked out bikes. The Owensboro Police Department Honor Guard and Swat Team paticipated as did members of the Owensboro City Commission and Fiscal Court.

Special guests for the evening included Karen Miller with the Convention and Visitors Bureau, The Legendary Casey Cleats (Kirk Kirkpatrick) and NBA SuperStar Rex Chapman.

Owensboro/Daviess County talents Jeff "Wildman" Hardesty and standout vocalist Molly G. were also a part of the celebration.

I could write a bunch about the program but I think the photos posted below tell the story of fun, excitement, and inspiration. Just view the photos and look at the faces of these young athletes. You will agree a good time was had by all.
