The Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce is reviving a program that has worked in the past to get people to the polls on Election Day. With a state-wide projection of less than 30% it is important that we encourage everyone to take a trip to the polls. This is part of an email blast that was sent out.

"Elections belong to the people. It is their decision. If  they decide to turn their back on the fire and burn their behinds, then they will just have to sit on their blisters." -Abraham Lincoln

The Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce is once again asking
members to participate in a campaign to promote and encourage employees to
exercise their right to vote! Two previous campaigns, 1995 and 2007 resulted in
an increase in voter turnout, as many as 4,819 more in 1995 than the previous
gubernatorial race. That year, only 4 counties had a greater turnout than
Daviess County, and 3 of those surround Frankfort.

The statewide turnout is projected at 30%. With a successful campaign, we can exceed that and be recognized as a significant force in the political process, and increase our clout with elected officials across the state.

On Tuesday, November 8, several state races will be up on the ballot, including Governor of Kentucky. It is important to send a clear message that the needs and concerns of the citizens of this community must be heard. YOU CAN HELP MAKE THAT HAPPEN BY VOTING!

We are not advocating a particular candidate or position but do believe it's important that we all exercise our American right to vote and ask that you encourage your employees to do just that. A successful election can only be achieved when a greater majority of citizens exercise their right to vote.

Here is a paycheck stuffer you may want to use for your employees.

You might not be aware that the "motor voter" law means that you were automatically registered to vote the last time you renewed your driver's license. To see where you vote or call the Daviess County Clerk's office at 685-8434.

AM 1490 WOMI encourages our listeners to get out and vote Tuesday November 8. Then hear your vote count as the polls close around the state. WOMI will feature election coverage on the state offices from the time polls close until winners have been declared.
Your vote counts but only if you take the time to cast your ballot.
