Collection Drive-thru to Benefit Local Veterans Happens Saturday
Nonperishable essentials, hygiene items, new clothes and funds will be collected for our veterans and homeless veterans in need. Once the donation drive has ended, items collected will be delivered to the Veterans Clinic in Owensboro. Here's a list of what they need most.
Let's salute our military veterans in a beautiful way. On Saturday, November 14th, 2020 from 10AM – 12PM you'll have the chance to help our local heroes. A Donation Drive-thru will be set up at 233 Williamsburg Square in Owensboro.
Some Donation Items to Consider:
Coats, Hats, Gloves, Sweatshirts, Pants, T-shirts, Underwear, Socks
Towels, Washcloths, Bedding, Pillows
Disposable Razors, Antiperspirant, Toothpaste & Toothbrushes, Bath Soap, Shampoo
Heat Packs for Hands, Feet & Body
Due to COVID-19 all donated items must be new.
Dry and Canned Food Recommendations from Feeding America:
Peanut butter
Canned soup
Canned fruit
Canned vegetables
Canned stew
Canned fish
Canned beans
Pasta (most prefer whole grain)
Rice (most prefer brown rice)
Some other food items suggested are small bowls of cereal, oatmeal, beef jerky, breakfast bars, etc. It can be any non-perishable food that doesn’t require a can opener.
Donors can drive-up and hand volunteers their donations. We ask that donors wear masks. Volunteers will wear masks and gloves during the process.
All are in encouraged to contribute. It's a chance to honor those who have served our great nation.
And, don't forget on Veteran's Day, these places are offering free meals and special discounts for our area veterans and active service members.
