Band Submissions Being Accepted for Owensboro’s PorchFest 2022

I love how the Owensboro community celebrates its music. Every major event held in Daviess County, whether it's music-centric or not, features live music from our deep pool of awesome talent.

And after years of judging talent for Goldie's Survivor or for a headline slot at Friday After 5, I'm not surprised that this tri-state area still has enough talented musicians to fill up an event like PorchFest OBKY.

This brilliant concept from the minds of our good friends Andy Brasher and Tamarra Miller is not only a tremendous SHOWCASE for all that talent, but it's a unique approach.

I was fortunate to be able to attend in 2019--good Lord, that was 27 months ago--and the turnout was very impressive, considering that attendees had to deal with MASSIVE amounts of rain during the first part of the event. I was absolutely drenched AND I was doing a live broadcast. Fortunately, I was able to record a couple of breaks and head home--I didn't live far at the time--and change into dry clothes once the rain let up.

But even with the downpour, folks were still showing up, umbrellas in hand, to enjoy some seriously wonderful and organic live music from the porches of all those beautiful homes on Griffith Avenue.

While PorchFest was a no-go in 2020 due to COVID, it came roaring back in 2021 and was an enormous success.

That figures to be the case in 2022 and it is NEVER too early to look ahead. Andy and Tamarra certainly don't believe it is; they're already on the lookout for talent.
